🔼 Weekly Honor. Volleyball player Bella Loeswick was named the Sun Belt Setter of the Week. She led the Sun Belt with 11.50 assists per set. Loeswick totaled 69 assists, including 37 in Friday's 3-0 victory over the Panthers. The following day, she recorded 32 assists and a career-high 10 digs for her second double-double of the season.

🔼 At Home. Men’s basketball player Bryson Sams feels at home at Coastal Carolina. Sams has followed the Chants since eighth grade. His high school coach, Alvin Green helped connect him with head coach Justin Gray. Now practicing for the 2026-27 season, Sams' role changes with each practice's needs, from holding a pad and rebounding to playing offense for 15 straight minutes.

🔼 Welcome Back! The cheer team hired MaryKate Avant as the new head coach. Avant returns to Conway after previously serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the Chanticleer cheer program from 2021-23. Prior to joining the coaching staff, Avant was a four-year member of the Coastal Carolina cheer team as a student-athlete.

🔼 Then to Now. Roland Podesta journeyed from his hometown in Australia to play college football as a punter for Coastal Carolina University. After facing years of financial hardship, a lower-body injury, and the loss of his father to brain cancer, he finally made his collegiate debut against West Virginia in September 2026. Today, at age 26, he is a key contributor for the Chanticleers, drawing motivation from his family to inspire others without a traditional path.

Since 2002, more than $9.4 billion in lottery proceeds have been invested in education across South Carolina. That funding has made a major impact supporting scholarships like the LIFE, HOPE, and Palmetto Fellows, as well as, the purchase of school buses, and technology initiatives statewide.
